Caring For Your Jewelry
Your jewelry is precious and does require some level of maintenance. We recommend the following tips to ensure your jewelry stays shining bright:
- As strong as gold and diamonds naturally are, they are still susceptible to scratches and snags. Be sure to take off your jewelry before entering any highly physical activity. Necklace and bracelets can get snagged and stones can get knocked out, which is not worth the risk.
- To avoid more rapid build up of dust and dirt on your jewelry, remove your jewelry before going to bed.
- Remove your jewelry before bathing, washing hands, or putting on lotion or perfume for the same reasons above.
- To clean your jewelry at home, soak your gold and diamond jewelry pieces in a solution of warm water and dish soap. Use an old toothbrush to scrub underneath any crevices to loosen dirt particles. After a good scrub, use a blow dryer to dry your jewelry to quickly evaporate any water spots – this is key to making your jewelry sparkle! Jewelry pieces that are plated, include semi-precious stones such as rubies or emeralds, or include pearls should not be cleaned this way, as they are either too porous or sensitive to extreme heat. Tip: use the back of the toothbrush to hold down your jewelry pieces as you blow-dry them as the metal can heat up quickly. Don’t forget to close any sink drains just in case.
